2009Yesterday was my baby’s 1st birthday. We spend the afternoon in the MCHC Center where she got her shot f the 3 in 1 vaccine. She cried hard and it breaks my heart to see and hear her cry. We were both wearing masks because of the swine flu alert :(. Then at night, the whole family just dined out and Janna had her 1st full rice meal :D.
I can’t believe it’s been a year already since she got out of my womb, but i still remember it as if it was just yesterday. I remembered having blood stains the day before delivery and so hubby rushed me to the hospital where i was advised to stay overnight so they can examine me. The next day came and still, nothing unusual, I was about to be sent back home when the final test showed i have a contraction. I didn’t realized then that the pain i am feeling is already what they called contraction, i though i was just constipated or something. That was 10am in the morning, then from then on, i experience that excruciating pain every 5 mins. I’ve been in labor for more than 7 hrs. At around 5:30, i felt the pain increasing and the interval has reduced to 3-4 mins. That’s my sign to call the nurses, means my baby is coming out. The 10 steps toward the nurses station seemed a million steps to me and it took eternity to reach them because of the pain i’m feeling. It’s the longest 10 steps of my life. When I reached them, I wasn’t entertained right away until i started to give out a cry of pain… i remembered my mom said she thinks women who shouts while giving birth is exaggerating, well, not in my case, it’s an involuntary scream of pain that i can’t control. The nurses started undressing me as i lay on the stretcher while on our way to the delivery room and they are telling me NOT to push, which is hard because when the contraction comes every 3 mins, you can’t help but just push. Jason is on his way to the hospital now from his office… good thing i was able to call him right before i went to the nurses station. He arrived just in time. He was led to the delivery room holding a camera but too bad, we were not allowed to take photos… he just held my hands as i began pushing. And oh it was just painful… It took an hour of pushing before janna finally came out… Jason nearly dropped when he saw the baby came out 😛 Then after that, stitching me took another hour. And stitching is much more painful than giving birth itself… the only anaesthesia i have is the gas which i dont think is working on me… it hurts so much that i curse in tagalog… good thing the doctors and nurses doesnt understand me 😛 Whenever I have a question like how long still before they finish stitching, Jason is the one to translate it in English and asks the doctors 😛 When atlast i’m done, i saw my baby for the 2nd time (the 1st time was just a glimpse right after she came out)… And we had our 1st breast feeding session. We were able to sneak a few photo shots :D.
And so Janna was born here in HK… And her journey begins 😀
