Back to the swamp

I’m finally back here in the Philippines for a long vacation with my baby. Back to the rotten government system and greedy attitude. Back to unsecure environment and lack of peace of mind in and outside of our homes. How have my beloved land of the rising sun ended up this way? I can’t help but compare our country with the other countries.

In HK, would you believe I just paid around 2K pesos delivering my baby in a very good hospital with the best equipments and superb services? Yes, the government shouldered almost 60K worth of my hospital bills. Not only that, take home medicines are free too and my baby’s monthly check up and vaccination. I have just been more than a week back here and i have already spent almost 10K worth of consultation and my baby’s vaccination. Not to mention the headache I got from bad drivers and traffic. I dare say “wala nyan sa Hong Kong”. Even the system in our hospital and discipline is so far off. I could finish a check up there in just an hour or less. They are very punctual and systematic that they avoid wasting everyones precious time. While here, I had my baby checked up at St. Lukes – a supposedly top of the line hospital here –  and we were asked to wait with my baby for more than 3 hours with other sickly adult patients around. In Hk, they have public clinics specially for maternal and child care so children wont get viruses from other patients.

The best things in life are free such as security and peace of mind and i felt that in Hong Kong. I wonder when will that happen here in the Phil? Don’t get me all wrong, i love the Philippines, i just don’t like how the government is being run and the greediness and so much love for money of the people. Our country is rich, we just seemed poor because of mismanagement. So sad.

And Im worried for my daughter if she will live here in the Philippines. Somehow migrating abroad tempts me.
