Natatae ka na ba?

It’s irritatingly funny (mostly irritating) how Filipinos behave when in a line. Just this afternoon as i was on my way home, waiting in a line at an FX terminal, there’s this lady who went ahead of me and took my spot in that passenger line. Im not sure if it was my fault because i was looking at something and didn’t notice that the line was moving and so she went ahead and filled the space. Anyway, I am still not done hating this lady when the line moved again. This time, its our batch’s (first 10 passengers) turn to ride the FX, when this man just behind me started overtaking me and 2 other passengers ahead of me. He was doing this walk you usually see in a walkathon race (where he seems like running but is still considered walking) and made his way inside the FX. My golly, what is the line for if people who can walk/run faster still gets to sit first? I am so tempted to tell this man “Hey buddy, natatae ka na ba?”. I mean, come on! Where are your manners? Or has the Filipinos lost their manners and respect for others?

There’s this other thing that i notice in MRT stations, specially in Guadalupe. People who just got out of the train are running towards the exit toll. Then once they passed the toll gate, they just resume to walking leisurely as if all the time in the world was theirs. What is up with that? Everybody is obviously going to get out of the MRT station if you’ll only take your place in the line. No need for running or something, you might just hurt your self or somebody else if you slip. Plus the mere sight of people running as if there’s a fire or it’s the end of the world is stressing.

I think there’s just this Filipino attitude of wanting to always get ahead of others. This is good career-wise, but when it comes to daily activities and situations, learn to wait for your turn and relax. Get a hold of yourselves and consider other people around you. Let us all respect each other and make this world a better place to live in.
