A few weeks ago, I had this conversation with Janna about cooking. It goes something like this:

JANNA: Mommy, how old are you?
MOMMY: I’m 3X (x for secret :P). Why?
JANNA: I want to be 3X, I want to grow old like you!
MOMMY: Why would you want to grow old fast? It’s so nice to be young. I want to be young, I don’t want to be 3X yet!
JANNA: I want to grow old because I want to cook! You know how to cook. I want to cook so that I can earn money… so i can buy the things – beautiful things.

A week later, she came up with this idea of selling her artworks to earn money. So since then, everyday, she would draw and paint and would compile all her finished works in a paper bag. She’s making 2-3 works per day.

This morning, when she woke up, she was crying. Her yaya threw her works that were outside the paper bag coz it won’t fit anymore.

She came to me crying telling me that she cannot sell her work anymore coz yaya threw it all. That she cannot have money anymore.

I was so broken hearted myself. I saw her works and they were good. I myself compile a lot of her works from her early years, I have rims of bondpaper worth of her works. I even made her this website to showcase and document her paintings.

She told me she wants to sell her work so she can have money to buy space, to buy a bigger home, so she and John can have playtime and run around the house. So yaya can have a bigger kitchen and table. Oooh, my poor baby! Her reasons at her age is so not selfish, not selfish at all.

I told this story to a friend, and she is willing to help Janna, so she’s buying 5 of Janna’s paintings from the homepage of this website. These works were still from last year. I haven’t yet updated with her most recent works.
