Lav’s Sofa Cover

I have always been fond of creating things, so when we went here in HK, and I no longer have a day job,  I was stuck in the house feeling kind of bored and unproductive. Do not get me wrong, I love taking care of my child Janna, and all the household chores are enough to fill my hours since I do not have a helper then… but the creative side in me just has this hunger that needs to be filled. So I requested from my good loving husband to buy me a good sewing machine. I used to have one before that was just cheap and made in China, but the quality isn’t enough for my requirements. I want to sew thick fabrics, and that machine just can’t do it.

So we went to Fortress and he got me this Brother sewing machine.

Then as soon as it arrived, I got a bit busy, sewing curtains, pillow cases, altering my clothes, and my biggest project that time, making the cover for our sofa bed.

Then a friend learned of my interest in sewing and asked if I could make her a sofa cover as well. Naturally, I took the challenge and said “YES!”

I got a corduroy fabric for her, similar to mine. She wanted a dark colour so that the dirt won’t be easily noticeable if there’s any, so I got a greyish colour.

I have no real sewing training, so pattern making and measuring is quite an experiment for me. I just did some basic math, geometric pattern making, etc – psyching myself that this is just like your school plates and projects, just putting pieces of paper or artworks together 😛

The finished product. Still not so perfect, but I am getting the hang of it, and slowly getting there 😛 (The boy there is John)

I know I still need some more practice, so anybody there who wants to hire me? 😛
